Drone sports organisers look at a growing future, facing consolidation stage

New Delhi | 20 June, 2025 | Biz / Logistics Urban Tales

The organizers of drone sports are largely scattered across the world and have not yet grown into a single body with branches all over the world such as FIFA and the Olympics

Drone sports have become quite popular. There is Drone Racing League in Los Angeles, USA and in Berlin, Germany.

The Drone Racing League (DRL) is the world’s premier, professional drone racing property, featuring the world’s best drone pilots racing the fastest drones in competition. DRL events take place in cities all over the world where pilots fly through spectacular and complex courses in arenas, stadiums, and landmarks. As a technology company at its core, DRL designs and builds its fleet of 600+ drones in-house and has invested millions to design and patent the core technology behind the sport. Pilots fly from a First-Person-View (FPV) headset, mimicking the feeling of flying in the cockpit of a jet fighter.

Otherwise, there is the Indian Drone Racing League in India, which is restricted to engineering college campuses. Indian drone based sports have not grown substantially with the common public with private sector run tournaments outside educational institutions.
