Such technologies are usually susceptible to functioning glitches from either lack of GPS links or pre-fed data not matching with ground interference.

NEW DELHI: July 1 2025: According to Chinese media, China has unveiled a massive unmanned aerial vehicle called the Jiu Tian, an reportedly futuristic flying mothership designed to launch swarms of smaller drones mid-air, a high-tech hive in the sky, capable of deploying dozens, possibly up to a hundred, miniature UAVs for surveillance, electronic warfare, or even precision strikes.
Unveiled at the Zhuhai Air Show in November, the drone, according to the South China Morning Post, this new drone allegedly marks a major step forward in China’s push for long-range unmanned aerial operations and unconventional warfare capabilities. The aircraft reportedly boasts an impressive flight range of up to 7,000 kilometers (around 4,500 miles) and can soar to altitudes of 15,000 meters, keeping it out of reach of most medium-range air defense systems. It features a maximum takeoff weight of 16 metric tons (roughly 17.5 U.S. tons) and a wingspan of 25 meters.
Again according to Chinese media, what makes this so groundbreaking isn’t just the scale, but the strategy. By releasing coordinated swarms, the Jiu Tian could overwhelm enemy defenses, jam communications, or carry out complex missions without risking a single pilot. It’s modular, autonomous, and built for long-range operations, hinting at a near future where air dominance might depend less on fighter jets and more on intelligent, networked machines.
Chinese authorities were not available to comment, prove or disprove the existense of this mother ship drone. DronePages awaits further clarification.
