The attacked factory was manufacturing drones for war that had been designed by Iranian companies

Ukraine’s military attacked a Russian drone factory in Yelabuga in Russia’s Tatarstan region on June 14, 2025. The target is 1,000km from Kyiv as the crow flies and 2,300 km by road. This is in the line of the attack by Ukrainian drones that destroyed 40 tactical bomber aircraft in the Russian Air Force. Ukraine’s novel war tactics do not seem to stop. The Ukrainian military declared that the factory produced, tested, and launched drones at Ukraine, in particular against energy and civil infrastructure. Videos on social media showed an explosion said to be at the factory in Yelabuga, also known as Alabuga, which builds Iranian-designed Shahed drones. The Russian local governor confirmed the attack.
